Craft your 2023 planner with me! I know. I know. We are almost a month into 2023, and I’m just now getting around to this. What can I say? I’m a pro-craftinator. See what I did there. This year we are using scrapbook paper to add some fun, color and craftiness to your new planners! Keep reading to see how I did it. Prefer watching? Last year, I crafted my planner using primarily paper punches. I loved the look of that planner, and loved looking AT it every day, but I wanted to do something different this year.
So, I thought, why not use scrapbook paper. You don’t have to pay for color copies or hunting for cute (read: free) graphics online. Also, scrapbook paper is SUPER cheap, esp if you get it at one of the Crafty Trinity locations (Hobby Lobby, Joann’s or Michaels) during one of their 40% off sales. The best part about this craft project? Minimal supplies. And I mean minimal.
Supplies:
- Planner of choice
- Scrapbook Paper
- Glue Stick or Glue Tape
- Scissors
See? I wasn’t lying.
These are the scrapbook pages that I used.

So without further ado, let’s get to it! Essentially, what I’m doing is cutting out these papers in creative ways and glue taping them into my planner for all my daily/monthly reminders. Below are the categories that I crafted in my planner this year, and how I created each one.
- Holidays
Valentine’s Day – This was the easiest one to do. I just took that heart scrapbook paper that I found, cut out a cute red heart and glue taped that guy on Feb 14’s square. Easy peezy heart squeezy.
- Halloween
– I found this really cool spiderweb scrapbook paper, and cut out a few webs – one big, one small. I placed in the square, with a little bit of web hanging out the side for that scrapbooky vibe.
- Thanksgiving –
Aren’t these pumpkins just scrumptious?? I loved the cartoonish look of these curling vines, so I really tried to keep that when I cut these pumpkins out.
Christmas – For Christmas, I found this really sweet ornament scrapbook paper. I cut a few out that I thought would look good in the December 25th square, and glue taped those bad boys down.
Meetings/Appointments – When I saw this pennant scrapbook paper, I was like, what can I use this for?? I loved the colors and love the look of a pennant banner anyway. I thought these triangles could be used for my appointments/reminders.
Vacation Days – I had this book of Paper Studio cardstock map paper from ages ago. And I thought it would be fun to cut the paper in strips to mark the days that I’ll be out on vacation. (It also makes my eyes happy to see that my vacay time is coming up every time I flip to that page in my planner, tbh.). I used 1/2 inch strips and glue taped the strips on the days I was out.
School Days – So this is a super zoomed-in version of this paper, but essentially it has cartoonish school supplies all over it. Admittedly, I did have to play around with these images a few times to see what would work well in the square. But that was honestly the fun part because these images were just so gosh darn cute. I used them to mark my daughter’s first and last day of school in my planner.

- Anniversaries – There are
actually a lot of couples in my life that I’m close to. So I like to remember their wedding anniversaries and text them the day of. When you think of wedding anything, you think of hearts, right? So I used the same heart paper that I used for Valentine’s Day, but just cut the heart in half and wrote the couple’s name along the edge.
Birthdays – OK, there are SO many options for birthdays. You can do balloons, party hats, confetti, etc. But I found this cupcake paper, and thought it was just the right size and color combo to really make my birthday reminders POP. Just added each person’s name below the cupcake after I glue-taped it down Plus, who doesn’t love to look at cupcakes?
- Workout –
As soon as I saw this paper, I was like, OMG I need to use this somehow. Now, normally, would I take the time and effort to cut out each individual image for the days that I need to work out? Probs not. You’re right. But when the paper looks this fab and the images of these strong women are SO chic, you just have to do just that.
Books to Read – So full disclosure –> this next one isn’t anything to do with scrapbook paper…sorry! But these
cute little book covers were too adorable not to use!! One of my new years’ resolutions was to read more books, so i spent some time picking out my book list for the year. Yes, for the year. Then I found the book jackets on Google Images, printed them, and cut them out. I picked two books to make my goal for the month (ambitious, I know) and glue-taped them to the notes section for that month.
So what about the rest of those cute little book jackets? You know if you don’t put them somewhere safe, they are gonna get lost, right? Enter solution –> found these handy little adhesive pockets on Amazon. I used the smallest sized one and stuck it to one of the beginning blank pages of my planner. Then I put the rest of the book covers inside it so when I get done with the current two books, I can choose two more for the next month.

…and we are done! That was how I crafted my planner with scrapbook paper this year. If you’re looking for a Craft DIY Planner, or want to Craft Project Planner, why don’t you try these ideas? Until next time folks, keep it crafty!
