Hi ya’ll!  Felt succulents are EVERYWHERE these days, and there are SO many different ways to use them in your home.  If you have ever searched for DIY tutorials, chances are you’ve gone down the rabbit hole and found lots of paid patterns (that you thought were free) OR you found some cute af felt flower pics, but can’t seem to find the pattern to make it….anywhere.

Don’t fear!  I’ve done all the research and trouble-shooting and experimenting FOR you.  All you have to do is stay-tuned to The Crafty Lefty’s DIY Felt Succulents Series to learn how to make 5 different felt succulents with FREE patterns.  Yeah, you read that right.  There are so many free felt succulent patterns out there made by totally awesome craft bloggers.  So instead of re-inventing the wheel, I’ve linked directly to their site so you can grab the free pattern from them (and check out their super cute crafts)!

Now on to our first felt succulent: the rose succulent from the sixceleversisters blog.  Prefer watching over reading?  No problem!  Click here to watch the DIY video tutorial.

Supplies:  All you’ll need for this rose succulent is felt (either stiff or soft, in whatever color you like), fabric scissors (or any sharp scissors), straight pins, hot glue, and the printed sixcleversisters pattern, found here.

1.  First cut out the 4 half-circle shapes from the pattern, and pin them to your felt.  I followed the SixCleverSisters advice, and traced and cut out two more half-circle shapes from the largest size in order to make my felt succulent a bit bigger.

2.  Then, cut out all your shapes and remove your pins.

3. Fire up that hot glue gun, and get your half-circle shapes in order from smallest to largest.

4.  You will apply glue to the inside bottom edge of the smallest half-circle, starting at one end and working your way around.  When you start, only add hot glue to the first third of your half-circle, and roll the felt over the hot glue to create a rosette.  Then, add more hot glue and roll, and then more until you are done with that half-circle shape.  The reason you wouldn’t want to add the hot glue all at once is because hot glue dries really quickly, and the first time you do this pattern, you might be a little slow.

5.  This is what your first rosette (the inside most part of your succulent) should look like:

6.  Using this small rosette, put it (seam-side down) onto the next biggest half-circle shape.  Add hot glue incrementally, as you roll the rosette over the felt to create an even bigger rosette.

7.  You will continue doing this until you have used all of your half-circle shapes.  At some point, instead of putting glue on the felt piece and then rolling the rosette, it might make more sense to add the hot glue to the rosette itself, and then press the felt piece to the rosette.  Please see the image below.

8.  Finally, after you’re all done, this is what your rosette should look like:

Please let me know in the comments how you liked this pattern.  And stay tuned for more DIY Felt Succulent Tutorials for the next month!  I’ll also be adding 5 unique ways to use felt succulents in your home that you won’t want to miss either!
